Barbecue season is pretty much in full swing. As with any instances of open fire, there are safety risks to be considered. The Government of Canada has put together this list to ensure safety before, during, and after the use of a barbecue grill.
When barbecuing, it is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions. The instructions will tell you how to use, clean and maintain your barbecue.
Before: ensure no part of the grill is broken/dirty/clogged and that your grill is set up in a safe spot (well ventilated and away from combustible materials)
During: follow instructions that are specific to your device, do not leave the grill unattended, and use the appropriate utensils
After: follow proper turn off instructions and wait for the gas left in the hose to burn off.
